A video of a huge crowd gathered on roads holding blue-coloured flags is being shared on social media as visuals of a Jai Bhim rally. This post even calls out people to join a rally to support reservations on 12 February 2023. Let’s fact-check this video through this article.
Claim: Visuals of a massive crowd gathered at the Jai Bhim rally.
Fact: One of the buildings visible in the video has a huge hoarding in front of it. The hoarding contains the name ‘Hostel Sol’, located in Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires. On observing the location of Hostel Sol using google street view feature of google maps, the buildings adjacent to it and the roads matched the visuals in the viral video. Hence the claim made in the post is False.
We performed a reverse image search using a few screenshots of the viral video, but that did not lead to any conclusive evidence. Then we looked to see if we could get any location clues from the video. Upon careful observation, we found a huge hoarding on a building with ‘Hostel Sol’ written on it. This hostel is located in the capital city of Argentina, Buenos Aires. Then we looked at the visuals of the Hostel Sol on Google Maps using the street view feature and compared the buildings and the roads adjacent to this hostel with the visuals in the viral video. They match the visuals in the viral video.
We also looked for videos related to massive public gatherings that happened recently in Buenos Ares but could not find the exact video. Some videos captured during the celebrations of Argentina’s victory in the football world cup contained a few black vehicles, which were also seen in the viral video. But, since the location is evidently Argentina and not India, the post’s claim that the video is related to a Jai Bhim rally is false.
To sum it up, visuals of a massive gathering on the roads of Buenos Aires, capital city of Argentina are shared as visuals of the Jai Bhim rally.
