A social media post accompanying a video, wherein a man jumps off from his fighter jet and takes down an opponent’s fighter jet with a missile strike is being widely shared as if the visuals are real. The video is being circulated with a claim that visuals show an Indian soldier taking down the opponent. Through this article let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: Visuals showing Indian soldier taking down an opponent’s jet through a missile strike.

Fact: These are not real visuals but are extracted from a gaming video titled ‘Battlefield 2042’. The visuals are released on the official YouTube channel of the game and are available since June 2021. Further, there are no reports of Indian army involving in any such arial combats lately. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

These visuals are not real but extracted from a video game. Reverse image search of the screen shots of the viral video led us to original video which carried similar visuals.

The video is uploaded on a YouTube channel named Battlefield on 09 June 2021 and the title of the video reads “Battlefield 2042 Official Reveal Trailer (ft. 2WEI)”. At 3:14 mark of the video we can see the viral visuals of a fighter jet being taken down.

The description associated to the video describes ‘Battlefield 2042 is a first-person shooter that marks the return to the iconic all-out warfare of the franchise’. All these imply that the viral visuals are not real but are related to a video game.

Battlefield is one of the popular video games developed by Swedish company EA DICE. ‘FIFA’, ‘NFL, Need for Speed’, etc. are some of the popular video games developed by this company.

Multiple gaming enthusiasts shared the same clip on the internet since the release of the game (here, & here). GIF’s capturing the same viral visuals have also become popular on internet. Further, there are no reports of the Indian army involving in any such arial combats lately.

To sum it up, visuals from a popular video game are being falsely shared attributing them to the Indian army.
