A flash flood video is being shared widely on Facebook with a claim that the video was taken in Amritsar. Let’s try to check whether the video was taken in Amritsar.

The archived version of the post can be found here.

Claim: Video of a flash flood in Amritsar (Punjab).

Fact: The video in the post was taken at Kote Gate in Bikaner (Rajasthan). Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

When the screenshots of the video were run through Google Reverse Image Search, it was found that a user uploaded the same video on YouTube. But the description below the video reads, “कोटगेट बीकानेर || राजस्थान बीकानेर में फुल बारिश || rain in rajasthan || Tejaji vlog” (Kota Gate Bikaner || Rain in Rajasthan’s Bikaner). So, when searched for ‘Kote Gate Bikaner’, it was found that Kote Gate resembles the structure (with similar opening, windows, parapet wall and chattris) in the video.

Also, in another picture, it can be seen that the surrounding buildings beside the structure in the video were also matched with buildings beside Kote Gate.

To sum it up, the video shows flash flood at Kote Gate in Bikaner (Rajasthan), not in Amritsar (Punjab).
