Update (10 February 2023): CS Pramesh, Director at Tata Memorial Hospital tweeted a clarification on this video stating, “@TataMemorial has nothing to do with this video, and any attribution to Tata Memorial Hospital is strongly refuted.”
Video of a woman performing tapping exercises and explaining their benefits is being widely shared on social media claiming that it is belongs to Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH). Other posts claimed that TMH has requested everyone to watch this video.
Claim: Video from Tata Memorial Hospital in which a woman performs tapping exercises and explains their benefits.
Fact: The name of the woman seen in the video is Manishaa. She is the founder of Om Sairam Perfect Health located in Koti, Hyderabad. It is an an Alternative and Holistic health service centre. She doesn’t belong to Tata Memorial Hospital, and the hospital has never shared her video. Hence the claim made in the video is MISLEADING.
We searched YouTube with relevant key words and found an extended version of the viral video uploaded by ‘Sanjana John’ YouTube channel on 02 June 2021 with the title “Tapping exercise for good health”. This channel also contains other videos of her speeches, exercises, and therapies.
Taking a cue from this, we searched further and found that her name is Manishaa, founder of Om Sairam Perfect Health located in Koti, Hyderabad. According to their official Facebook page, it is an Alternative and Holistic health service centre. Visuals of the videos available on this centre’s YouTube channel match with that of viral video.
This shows that the video was not shot in Tata Memorial Hospital. We also checked the Tata Memorial Hospital’s website and social media handles and couldn’t find any such post asking people to watch this video. Also, according to WebMD, some studies showed that these kind of tapping exercises can improve psychological disorders while other researchers say that the improvement is because of placebo effect.
To sum it up, video of woman performing tapping exercise is not from Tata Memorial Hospital
