Video of passersby picking bottles from an overturned liquor truck is being shared on social media claiming that the incident took place on a highway in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. Let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

Fact: The incident in the video took place at Dindigul in Tamil Nadu, not at Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

In the video, passersby can be seen picking bottles from a liquor truck overturned on a highway. So, when we searched on Facebook with keywords ‘passersby pick liquor bottles from overturned truck’, a video of ‘Indian Express’ with similar visuals was found. The ‘Indian Express’ posted that the incident in the video took place near Dindigul. ‘Dindigul’ is a district in the state of ‘Tamil Nadu’.

With the above information, when we searched on Google with Tamil translation of the keywords ‘Liquor bottles truck overturned in Dindigul’, an article of Tamil news website ‘Nakkkheeran’ was obtained in the search results. In the article, it was reported that after a truck loaded with liquor bottles had overturned on a highway near Vedasandur town in Dindigul, people from the nearby areas and passersby on the highway had taken their pick from the truck.
