A video is being shared on social media claiming it shows the visuals of a Muslim women accusing Gujarat police of assaulting them and not allowing Muslims to cast their votes during the recent Gujarat Elections 2022. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video of a Muslim women accusing Gujarat police of assaulting them and not allowing Muslims to cast their votes during the recent Gujarat Elections 2022.

Fact: The video shared in the post is related to the recent Rampur bye-poll elections in Uttar Pradesh. The video shows a Muslim woman accusing the Uttar Pradesh Police administration of assaulting them and not allowing them to cast their votes in the Rampur bye-poll. The video has nothing to do with the recent Gujarat Elections. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On reverse image search of the screenshots of the posted video, a video with similar visuals was found published by a local news channel on 05 December 2022. Sharing the video, this news channel stated, “Rampur bye- polls in Uttar Pradesh took a hostile turn on the polling day, as it is alleged, that the police administration is causing mayhem, beating up and harassing Muslim voters to stop them from casting their votes.” On observing the video carefully, one could hear the woman saying, “Why do you do such injustice to the people of Rampur?”(when translated from Urdu to English).

‘Brut’ and a few other news websites have also published this video reporting it as the visuals of Muslims in Rampur accusing UP Police of stopping them from casting their votes in the Rampur bye-poll.

The ‘Samajwadi Party’ tweeted a video on 05 December 2022, alleging it shows the visuals of the police administration preventing Muslims from casting their votes during the Rampur bye-poll. Several news websites have also published articles reporting these allegations on UP police not letting Muslims to cast their votes during the Rampur bye-poll. From all these pieces of evidence, it can be concluded that the video shared in the post is related to the Rampur bye-poll in Uttar Pradesh, not related to the Gujarat Elections.

To sum it up, a video of Muslim voters accusing UP police of stopping them from casting votes in the Rampur bye-poll is falsely linked to the 2022 Gujarat Assembly Elections.
