Boalmari is an upazila of Faridpur District in central Bangladesh, located in the Dhaka Division. The incident occurred after a clash between two factions of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), where members of one faction vandalized the shops belonging to members of the other faction. Additional reports by Bangladeshi media featuring the viral video and confirming that the visuals are from Faridpur, Bangladesh, can be seen here.
To learn more about this incident, we conducted a relevant keyword search in Bengali. This search led us to several news reports published by Bangladeshi media (here, here, here, here, and here) featuring keyframes from the viral video. According to these reports, the incident occurred on 14 August 2024 in Boalmari Upazila, Faridpur District, Bangladesh. The reports further stated that there was a dispute between two factions of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). As a result, workers from one faction attacked the shop of Sanjay Saha, president of Boalmari upazila BNP and convenor of the upazila branch of the Jatiyatabadi Swachchasebak Dal, in Faridpur. During the incident, soldiers from the Bangladesh Army arrested the attackers. The individuals arrested were identified as Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Youth Dal activists Mohammad Tutul Hossain and Dukhu Mia.
