Fact: The video actually shows a man stabbing his wife as he suspected her of having an illicit affair in Delhi’s Rohini. The video has nothing to do with the UP based journalist Pragya Mishra. In fact, Pragya Mishra herself clarified through a tweet that she is in home isolation in view of COVID-19 protocol and it’s not her in the viral murder video. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.
YouTube search with relevant keywords yielded multiple news reports which included the same video. As per one such report dated 11 April 2021 by Republic world, the incident took place in Delhi’s Budh Vihar wherein a man stabbed his wife to death in broad daylight. Another news report which stated the same can be seen here.
Taking a cue from the news video, Google search with relevant keywords led us to a news article by Indian Express which reported the same incident. According to DCP Tayal as reported in this article, ‘the man Harish Mehta stabbed his wife Neelu as he suspected her of having an extramarital affair and the incident took place in Delhi’s Rohini’.
Further search led us to a tweet by journalist Pragya Mishra which shared a video message of her saying that she has been in home isolation for few days in view of COVID-19 protocol and it’s not her in the viral murder video. By all these, we can infer that the viral video does not show the murder of Uttar Pradesh based journalist Pragya Mishra.
