A video is circulating on social media platforms claiming to be footage of French citizens marching in support of Palestinians amidst the recent Palestine – Israel conflict. This article aims to fact-check this claim and provide clarity on the actual origins of the video.

Claim: The video being shared depicts a march of French citizens demonstrating in support of Palestine.

Fact: The video does not show a French pro-Palestine demonstration but instead shows visuals from a gathering of football fans in Brazil. Hence, the claim made in the post is Misleading.

To determine the truth behind the viral video, we executed a reverse image search on keyframes from the video. This search led us to sources that featured identical or similar visuals (here, here, and here).

We discovered that the video originated not from France, as claimed, but from Sao Paulo, Brazil. The people seen in the video were not engaged in a political demonstration. Instead, they were fans of the football club Palmeiras making their way to a game against Boca Juniors in the Copa Libertadores competition. You can view other angles of this actual event here, here, and here.

In addition, a quick internet search for recent demonstrations in France in support of Palestine confirmed such events. However, our findings show that the video in question is unrelated to those demonstrations.

To sum up, the video depicting a large group of people marching at night is not taken from a French demonstration supporting Palestine but shows visuals of football fans in Brazil making their way to a game.
