A video showing a man wearing a burqa, being checked by the police is being shared through a post claiming that this is how arms were smuggled into the country during Pulwama attacks. Let us fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video shows how smuggled arms are entering India.

Fact: The video was taken in the city of Raozan in Bangladesh and not in India. The person in the video was caught by the Raozan police while he was smuggling drugs under the guise of being a pregnant woman wearing a burqa. Hence, the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.

When reverse image search is done on the screenshots of the video with relevant keywords, a video with similar visuals was found on YouTube. The YouTube was uploaded on 11 March 2021 by the channel named, ‘Smile Tv Bangla’. The English translation of the video, which is written in Bengali, is, ‘Smile Tv Arrested for drug trafficking.’ According to the description of the YouTube video, two traffickers were caught by the police in Raozan, Chittagong, and sent to jail. Raozan is a city in Bangladesh whereas Pulwama is a city in India.

When we searched on the internet with relevant keywords, a news report about the incident was found. Raozan police have arrested Sagar (20) and Amena Begum (19) by setting up a check post in Jalil Nagar area of Chittagong-Rangamati Road after they received secret info about the two traffickers. The accused were smuggling drugs under the guise of being a pregnant woman wearing a burqa. The Raozan Police Station, on their Facebook page, had posted about the incident and the related video.

To sum it up, a video of a person caught smuggling drugs in Bangladesh is being linked to the Pulwama attacks & smuggling arms into India.

UPDATE (28 March 2022):
The same video is again being shared praising PM Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath after the Karnataka High Court had recently upheld state government order that had banned headscarves in classrooms. But as explained above the video is not related to India and is from Bangladesh
