A video is being shared on social media claiming it is recent visuals of a train accident. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video showing visuals of a recent train accident.

Fact: The video shared in the post shows a three-year-old train accident in Hyderabad, Telangana. On 11 November 2019, a Hyderabad MMTS train collided with the Kurnool – Secunderabad Intercity Express near the Kacheguda railway station in Hyderabad. The video does not show visuals of a recent train accident. Hence, the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.

On reverse image search of the screenshots of the video, a video with similar visuals is found published by ‘The New Indian Express’ on 12 November 2019. TNIE published this video with a description, “CCTV footage of MMTS train clash in Hyderabad”.  As per the news report, a Hyderabad MMTS train crashed head-on into the Kurnool City-Secunderabad Intercity Express at Kacheguda railway station on 11 November 2019.

Reporting the details of this accident, several news websites published articles in 2019. They can be seen here, here and here. The South Central Railway officials in a press release said, “Six coaches of the MMTS service and three coaches of the Hundry Express have been damaged. The 12 passengers were rushed to Osmania General Hospital, of whom two were discharged.”
