Unrelated videos shared as the visuals of an explosion at a factory in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district

A video is being shared on social media claiming it as the recent visuals of an explosion that had taken place at a factory in Dasna of Ghaziabad district in Uttar Pradesh. This post claims that 40 people lost their lives during the explosion. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video showing the explosion at a factory in Dasna, Uttar Pradesh.

Fact: The video shared in the post shows the recent visuals of a huge explosion that took place at a chemical factory in Vadodara, Gujarat. On 02 June 2022, a huge explosion, followed by fire, occurred at Deepak Nitrite Company in Nandesari GIDC in Vadodara. According to the reports, at least eight workers were injured in this incident. But there were no casualties reported in this accident. The video does not show an explosion in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On reverse image search of the screenshots in the video, similar visuals were found in a video published by the ‘NDTV’ news channel on 03 June 2022. ‘NDTV’ reported it as the visuals of a huge explosion that had taken place at a chemical factory in Vadodara, Gujarat. The description of the video stated that a huge explosion, followed by fire, occurred at Deepak Nitrite Company in Nandesari GIDC in Vadodara.

This accident reportedly took place on 02 June 2022 evening. Reporting the complete details of this explosion, several news websites have published tweets and articles. A few of them can be seen here, here and here.  According to the reports, at least 8 people were injured in this explosion at Deepak Nitrite Company in Vadodara. But there are no casualties reported in the accident.

Another video that shows an explosion is being shared with a similar claim on social media. But these visuals show the explosion that recently took place at a factory in Hupur, Uttar Pradesh. On 04 June 2022, a massive explosion took place at a factory in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur. A few other videos showing the massive explosion at Hapur factory can be seen here and here. 13 people reportedly died during this explosion.

Though there have been reports of a fire accident in a factory in Ghaziabad’s Dasna, no injuries were reported in this incident. Visuals of the incident can been seen here.

To sum it up, unrelated videos are shared as the visuals of an explosion at a factory in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district.

Update (07 JULY 2022):

The same viral video is now being falsely shared as a video of a blast in Bengaluru. As debunked above, the video is not related to Karnataka. Also, we could not find any recent reports of such a huge explosion in Bengaluru.
