In December 2025, three separate killings of Hindu men were reported in Bangladesh within a short span of time. On 18 December 2025 (here, here, and here), Dipu Chandra Das, a garment worker, was beaten to death by a mob in Mymensingh following allegations of blasphemy. A few days later, on 24 December 2025 (here, here, and here), Amrit Mondal (also known as Samrat) was killed in Rajbari district after being attacked by a group of people over an alleged dispute. The third incident occurred on 29 December 2025 (here, here, and here), when Bajendra Biswas was shot dead by a colleague inside a garment factory in Mymensingh. These incidents were collectively cited by several media reports as three killings in December 2025.
In the aftermath of these incidents, a video showing an individual being brutally beaten by an angry mob is being circulated on social media (here, here, and here) with the claim that it depicts another incident of violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. Let’s verify the claim made in the post in this article.

Claim: The video shows a Hindu man being brutally beaten by a mob in Bangladesh.
Fact: The viral video does not show a Hindu man being beaten in Bangladesh. The incident actually took place at Tanda Urmar Railway Station in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, India, where a man dressed as a baba (sadhu) was allegedly attempting to abduct a three-year-old child and was beaten by a mob. Meanwhile, in December 2025, three separate killings of Hindu men were reported in Bangladesh. Hence, the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.
A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to the same clip uploaded on the Instagram handle @sagararjeet dated 21 December 2025, which claims that a man dressed as a baba (Sadhu) was caught while allegedly attempting to abduct a three-year-old child at Tanda Railway Station. The same video was also shared by the Instagram handle the_voice_of_haryana with the same information.
In the video, we also noticed a sticker bearing the text “GIC Re,” which is the logo of the General Insurance Corporation of India, an entity that does not operate in Bangladesh.

The Instagram user Arjeet Sagar had shared multiple videos related to this incident in December 2025. In a video posted on 14 December 2025, several men are seen carrying sugarcane sticks and moving towards a man dressed in saffron, apparently before assaulting him. Another video shows a reporter speaking about the incident in Punjabi while holding a microphone bearing the logo of Dainik Savera, a regional news outlet covering Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh. In the clip, the reporter states that a man dressed in religious attire attempted to abduct a child at Tanda Railway Station.

Tanda Urmar Railway Station is located in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district. To verify the location of the video, we examined photos of the station on Google Maps. In the viral clip, a State Bank of India ATM vestibule is visible, which also appears in Google Maps photos of the station. Additionally, the metal benches seen in the video match those shown in the station’s photos and in several YouTube videos (here, here) uploaded by a Punjab-based content creator, confirming that the incident depicted in the viral video occurred in Punjab, not Bangladesh. The comparison can be seen below.

We also found a Facebook post dated 01 January 2026 by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing of the Bangladesh government, which debunked the viral claim by clarifying that the video does not show an incident from Bangladesh and that it is actually from India.

To sum up, this viral video showing a man being brutally beaten by a mob is from Punjab, India, not Bangladesh.
