Claim: Video of a Maulvi in India beating a child indiscriminately.

Fact: The video actually shows an incident of a teacher in a madarsa beating up a child mercilessly in Chittagong, Bangladesh. He was beaten because he ran after his mother, who came to see him on his birthday. This incident has nothing to do with India. Hence the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.

Google search with relevant keywords led us to a Bangladeshi news article dated 10 March 2021 which reported the same video. As per the article, the video shows the incident of a madarsa teacher Md Yahya of Al Markazul Quran Islamic Academy, Chittagong beating up a child indiscriminately for running after his mother who came to see him on his birthday.

Further, the article reported that after the video went viral, local officials rescued the child and the teacher was expelled from the madarsa. Few more news articles reported the incident, establishing the fact that this incident took place in Bangladesh. They can be read here and here. This incident has nothing to do with India.

To sum it up, this video of a madarsa teacher beating a child is from Bangladesh, not India.
