Claim: Video shows a Bihar BJP MLA hitting a DC (District Collector)

Fact: The video shared in the post shows an incident from January 2018. According to news reports, Rajdhani Yadav, a BJP leader from Jharkhand, assaulted a District Transport Officer (DTO) for removing the nameplate on his car. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

Based on the claim, we searched the internet with relevant keywords, looking for relevant media reports. This led us to a video news report published on the YouTube channel ‘V6 News Telugu’. The description of this video which contained the same visuals as the viral video, reads ‘Jharkhand BJP Leader Beats Up District Transport Officer For Removing Number-plate From Car.

Based on this, we searched further for news reports on this incident, leading us to various media reports from 2018. You can access them here, here, and here. According to Indian Express, Rajdhani Yadav, a district-level leader of Jharkhand’s Latehar District, assaulted the District Transport Officer (DTO) for removing the nameplate on his car. The nameplate contained the name of his post, which is against the law. This evidence clearly shows that the viral post shares this video with a false claim.

To summarise, an old video of Jharkhand BJP leader Rajdhani Yadav hitting and arguing with a District Transport Officer is falsely shared as BJP MLA from Bihar hitting a District Collector.
