A video is being shared widely on social media with a claim that it shows the reaction of Hindus against Muslims after the murder of Kishan Bharwad, who was killed in Dhandhuka (Gujarat) by a group of men over a social media post. The accused in the murder case are Muslims. Let’s fact-check the claim made in the post

Claim: Video shows the reaction of Hindus against Muslims after the murder of Kishan Bharwad.

Fact: The posted video is old and not related to any recent protests after the murder of Kishan Bharwad. The video shows mob violence in Amravati (a city in Maharashtra) which happened in November 2021. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

When the screenshots of the video were run through Google Reverse Image Search, a similar video was found in the search results. It was posted in November 2021. So, the video is not related to any recent protests after the murder of Kishan Bharwad. Also, on the video, it is written that it is related to Amravati (a city in Maharashtra).

The same shops seen in the posted video can be found in the photo published by the ‘Business Standard’ in its article on the Amravati mob violence, which happened in November 2021 during a bandh.

Also, when other unrelated videos are shared recently in the context of the murder of Kishan Bharwad with a similar claim, FACTLY has written a fact-check article debunking them. The fact-check article can be read here. However, some protest rallies after Kishan Bharwad’s murder, like in Rajkot, had turned violent.

To sum it up, an old video from Amravati mob violence is falsely shared as a reaction of Hindus against Muslims after Kishan Bharwad’s murder.
