This breaking news screenshot of Yogi Adityanath threatening to leave BJP is morphed

A screenshot of what looks like breaking news on ‘K News’ is being shared widely on social media, with the claim that UP CM Yogi Adityanath has threatened to leave the BJP and join the SP if Amit Shah talks of changing the CM. Let’s fact-check the

Claim: UP CM Yogi Adityanath has threatened to leave the BJP and join the SP if Amit Shah talks of changing the CM.

Fact: There is no evidence of UP CM making such a statement. The screenshot of ‘K News’ breaking news is morphed and does not resemble the usual breaking news template of the channel. The channel has also confirmed on Twitter that it did not telecast any such news and that the screenshot is morphed. Hence the claim is FALSE.

When searched in Google with relevant keywords to check if UP CM Yogi Adityanath has made any such comments as mentioned in the post, we could not any reports stating that UP CM Yogi Adityanath has threatened to leave the BJP and join the SP if Amit Shah talks of changing the CM. Had CM Adityanath made any such statements multiple media outlets would have reported this, but there were no such reports.

On observing the screenshot shared in the post, one could notice the logo ‘KNEWS’ at the top right corner. Knews is a news channel based out of Kanpur. When searched if the news outlet had reported any such news with regard to UP CM Yogi Adityanath, no reports were found on their website, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter accounts. But we have found a tweet made by them on 12 January 2022, clarifying that the viral screenshot that is being shared on their template is fake, and that they have nothing to with the said news.

To sum it up, a morphed screenshot of ‘Knews’ channel is shared as UP CM Yogi Adityanath has threatened to leave the BJP and join the SP if Amit Shah talks of changing the CM
