Fact: The video is from a 2017 incident when a person named Pawan Bangar was seen brutally beating a monkey to death for straying into his farm. Action was taken against the person under Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
When reverse image search is done on the screenshots of the video, a YouTube video with similar visuals was found. The YouTube video uploaded on 19 December 2017 is titled, “Maharashtra: Men tie and beat injured Baboon to death in Washim”. According to the video news report, the main accused who was involved in the incident is named “Pawan”.
According to news reports, the incident happened at Kurha village in Washim district, Maharashtra in 2017. A person had brutally beaten a monkey with sticks and belts for straying into his farm. The person is identified as ‘Pawan Bangar’ who is the main accused for beating the monkey. “Apart from Bangar, the forest department has arrested two underage accused. While one of them has been identified as Pawan Rathod, the officials have not revealed the identity of the third accused.” Action against the main accused was taken under various sections of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
