These screenshots show tweets posted from fan page accounts of Sonu Nigam

Screenshots of the tweets purportedly made by singer Sonu Nigam are being circulated widely on social media. They can be seen here and here. In these tweets, Sonu Nigam states that he is going to boycott Amitabh Bachhan’s KBC and Salman Khan’s Big Boss shows. He also claims that some Bollywood goons are threatening him for his tweets in support of Sushant and Kangana. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Sonu Nigam tweets about boycotting Bollywood star’s shows and threatening calls from Bollywood goons.

Fact: These tweets are posted from the fan page (parody) accounts of singer Sonu Nigam. Sonu Nigam doesn’t have an account on twitter. Hence the claims made in the post are FALSE.

On searching for the official twitter handle of singer Sonu Nigam, it is found that Sonu Nigam doesn’t have an account on twitter. Using the usernames mentioned in the screenshots, we found the accounts that posted these tweets on twitter. They can be seen here and here. These twitter handles clearly mentioned in their profile that they are the fan page (parody) accounts of singer Sonu Nigam.

Sonu Nigam’s sister Teesha Nigam confirmed in a tweet that Sonu Nigam is not on twitter. Sonu Nigam himself clarified on his official Facebook page that he doesn’t have an account on twitter.

Sonu Nigam raised his voice against the Bollywood ‘Music Mafia’ following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. In ‘Times Now’ news channel’s interview, he said ‘Power play and Nepotism does exist in Bollywood’. He also said in the interview that he believes all the allegations made by actress Kangana Ranaut on Bollywood. However, the screenshots in the viral posts show tweets from fan page accounts of Sonu Nigam.

To sum it up, the tweets about boycotting Bollywood star shows and threatening calls from Bollywood goons were posted from the fan page accounts of Sonu Nigam.
