A video is being shared on social media claiming it as the latest visuals of 84-year-old Indian playback singer Suman Kalyanpur singing ‘Yaad Kiya Dilne Kaha Ho Tum’ song at an event. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video showing singer Suman Kalyanpur’s latest song performance at an event.

Fact: The woman singing in the video is Aruna Prakash, a resident of Juhu in Mumbai. Aruna Prakash performed this song during the International Elders Day 2021 celebrations organized by the AmbaGopal Foundation in October 2021. The video has nothing to do with Indian playback singer Suman Kalyanpur. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

When we searched for the video using relevant keywords on the internet, a video with similar visuals was found published by a Facebook user on 31 December 2021. Sharing the video, this user stated, “Lots of people have sent me this video some saying she is Sudha Malhotra, others saying she is Suman Kalyanpur. All of them are wrong. I have been told by a friend that the singer is Aruna Prakash who is a resident of Juhu.”

When we searched for further information about the woman seen singing in the video, a video showing the same woman was found published on the Facebook page of Aharveda. In the video, the woman introduced herself as Aruna Prakash from Mumbai and said she had recovered from arthritis after following the vegan diet prescribed by Dr. Harish Shetty for six months. ‘The Times of India’ published an article about Aruna Prakash in May 2020.

On observing the video shared in the post carefully, one could see the text, “AMBAGOPAL FOUNDATION WELCOMES YOU TO CELEBRATE THE INTERNATIONAL ELDERS DAY 2021” on the banner placed in the background of the stage. Upon searching for the video using this information, we found the same video posted on the AmbaGopal Foundation’s Facebook page on 02 October 2021. AmbaGopal Foundation published this video with the description, “International Elders Day 2021 is celebrated by AmbaGopal Foundation.”A few more pictures of this event were published on the AmbaGopal Foundation website.

Suman Kalyanpur is a well-known Indian playback singer of the 1960s and 1970s. A video showing Suman Kalyanpur’s live performance during an event in 2019 can be seen here. A comparison pictures of Aruna Prakash and Suman Kalyanpur can be seen below. From all these pieces of evidence, it can be concluded that the video shared in the post does not show singer Suman Kalyanpur.

To sum it up, the woman seen singing in this video is not Indian playback singer Suman Kalyanpur.
