A video is going viral on social media (here, here, and here) showing a person flying a coconut in the air. The thread attached to the coconut is visible in the video. The post is being shared with the claim that Kuldeep Mishra made the coconut fly using the power of mantras on a live news TV channel. Let’s verify the truth behind the video in this article.

Claim: The video shows a fake miracle of making a coconut fly using mantras on a live news TV channel.
Fact: The video is part of News Nation’s “Operation Pakhand” campaign against superstition. The thread used to make the coconut fly was shown to expose fraudulent practices. It was demonstrated by magician Kuldeep Mishra to reveal how fake spiritual leaders deceive people. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
A reverse image search of the keyframes from the viral video led us to the full video shared on News Nation’s YouTube channel on 21 March 2025. The video is titled “Operation Pakhand: Baba claims, will the cure be possible with consecrated water? Udta Nariyal Viral Video News Nation.” The viral video clip appears around 28 minutes and 50 seconds into the programme. After watching the entire video, we found that the News Nation TV program is a campaign against fraud.
We noticed that at the beginning of the video, a disclaimer was provided stating that ‘Operation Pakhand’ is News Nation’s campaign against superstition. The disclaimer mentioned, “News Nation’s aim is not to hurt anyone’s sentiments or faith, but to warn you against those who claim to have miraculous powers. News Nation does not promote any kind of superstition.”

We found a post on News Nation’s X handle dated 25 March 2025, clarifying that some people are spreading a clip from the show ‘Operation Pakhand’ out of context. The clip shows a coconut flying in the air, where magician Kuldeep Mishra demonstrates how fake spiritual leaders deceive people. The thread used to make the coconut fly was intentionally shown to reveal the truth behind such miracles. Later, magician Amar also used the same thread to make a lemon fly.
To sum up, the viral video of a coconut flying using mantras was part of an anti-superstition campaign aimed at exposing fraudulent spiritual leaders.
