The person welcoming the stranded Indian students in this video is G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Culture & Tourism

A video through a post is being widely shared on social media claiming that Union Minister Prakash Javadekar had been ignored by the Indian students who were evacuated amidst the Russia-Ukraine crisis. Let us fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video showing Prakash Javadekar who was ignored by evacuated Indian students from Ukraine.

Fact: The person in the video welcoming Indian students with flowers is Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and Development of North-Eastern Region; he is not Prakash Javadekar. Hence, the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.

When reverse image search is done on the screenshots of the video, similar visuals were found on the official Twitter handle of Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Development of North-Eastern Region. Kishan Reddy posted the visuals as a Facebook live stream link on his Twitter account when he was receiving the evacuated Indian students at New Delhi. In this better-quality video, it can be clearly seen that it was Kishan Reddy and not Prakash Javadekar who was receiving the Indian students from Ukraine.

Similar visuals of Kishan Reddy receiving students from Ukraine and greeting them with flowers, can be seen here and here. Zee News which showed similar visuals had been critical of some of the students who according to their report, were indifferent and ungrateful for the evacuation that was done under Operation Ganga. Operation Ganga was an evacuation operation by the government of India to bring back stranded Indians amidst the crisis in Ukraine.

To sum it up, the person welcoming stranded Indian students from Ukraine is Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Culture, Tourism; he is not Prakash Javadekar.
