The image of the child on Parle-G biscuit packet is just an illustration; It doesn’t show any real person

A photo of a woman is being widely shared on social media claiming that the she was the child who appears on Parle-G biscuit packet and she was 1 year 2 month old when that photo was taken. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Present image of the child who was featured on parle-G biscuit packet.

Fact: The woman seen in the viral post is Sudha Murthy, Chairperson of Infosys foundation. Representative from the foundation clarified that the child is not Sudha Murthy. Also, Mayank Shah, group product manager at Parle Products, clarified that the image of the child on Parle-G biscuit packets is just an illustration by Everest creative back in 1960s. It doesn’t show any real person. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

We ran a reverse image search and found that the woman seen in the viral post is Sudha Murthy, chairperson of Infosys Foundation. According to ‘The Hindu Images’, this photo was taken on 11 February 2012 in a book launch event at Bengaluru.

When AFP contacted Infosys Foundation, a representative clarified that the child seen on the Parle-G wrapper is not Sudha Murthy. According to the Economic Times, Mayank Shah, group product manager at Parle Products clarified that image of the child is actually an illustration by Everest creative back in 1960s. To sum it up, the child featured on Parle-G biscuit packet is not Sudha Murthy. It is just an illustration created back in 1960s and doesn’t show any real person.
