A post is being shared on Facebook with the claim that a truck with EVMs is found moving in the vicinity of the strong room in Chapra. Let’s try to check the claim made in the post.

Claim: A truck with EVMs was caught roaming in the vicinity of a strong room in Chapra, Saran.   

Fact: The EVMs in the picture were not used in the elections. They were being transferred from a warehouse to a training centre, where the counting agents will be trained for the counting day. Hence the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.

When searched for the news regarding the ‘EVMs in Chapra’ on Google, it was found that the Chief Election Officer, Bihar has already given a clarification on this issue through the official Twitter handle. A press release was tweeted by the CEO Bihar that the EVMs found in the truck were not the EVMs used in the election. They were being moved from a warehouse to a training centre, where the counting staff will be trained for the counting day.

Also, the official spokesperson of ECI, Sheyphali Sharan has tweeted the letter undersigned by the candidate’s agent at the strong room that the EVMs are safe and he is satisfied with the transparency in the process.

To sum it up, the EVMs in the truck were being transferred to a training centre for training purposes.
