Claim: This Diwali, Ratan Tata has donated Rs.1000 crore for cancer patients.

Fact: While it is true that Ratan Tata has donated Rs.1000 crore for cancer patients, it was in 2017, not in 2019. Hence the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.   

In the post, the photo of ‘Mumbai Mirror’ article can be seen. So, when searched on Google with the keywords ‘Tata 1000 crore Mumbai Mirror’, the ‘Mumbai Mirror’ article can be found in the search results. It can be seen that the article was published in 2017. In the article, it can be read that the “Tata Trusts, led by Ratan Tata, has pledged Rs 1,000 crore and other resources to help the central government develop cancer-care facilities in five states, an initiative that promises to drastically improve access to treatment for thousands of patients.”

Also, it can found that, in 2017, the Vice President of India has posted on Facebook praising Ratan Tata for his gesture.

To sum it up, “Tata’s Rs.1000 crore Diwali gift for cancer patients” was in 2017, not in 2019.
