Claim: Video of BJP MP Sunny Deol being attacked at a Gurdwara by people and sent away.

Fact: Video is taken during Sunny Deol’s visit to Gurdwara Dera Baba Nanak at Gurdaspur in May 2019. Sunny Deol visited the Gurdwara and offered prayers before launching his campaign for General Elections- 2019. There are no reports that Sunny Deol was attacked during his visit. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

When searched for information regarding the video, a Youtube video with a similar claim was found. In the comments section, a user commented that the video is from Sunny Deol’s election campaign on 02 May. During General elections- 2019, Sunny Deol contested as a BJP candidate from Gurdaspur parliamentary constituency.

With the earlier clue, when searched for information, news reports were found mentioning that Sunny Deol had visited Gurdwara Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur and offered prayers before starting his campaign for elections. Sunny Deol can be seen in the same attire in these videos taken during his visit to the Gurdwara.

News reports were found which said that it had become difficult to control the crowd who had to come to see Sunny Deol during the visit, but none of the reports had any mention of attacks on Sunny Deol during his visit to Gurdwara. During the search process, Factly found that the same video had gone viral in May 2019 with the same claim.

To sum it up, video taken in May 2019 is now being shared with a false narrative that ‘Sunny Deol was attacked at a Gurdwara by people and sent away’.
