Sunni Waqf Board has not made a claim over the entire wealth of ‘Shirdi Sai Sansthan’

A post is being shared widely on social media with a claim that the Sunni Waqf Board has claimed its right over the wealth of ‘Shirdi Sai Sansthan’. Let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: Sunni Waqf Board has claimed its right over the wealth of ‘Shirdi Sai Sansthan’.

Fact: The ‘Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust, Shirdi’ officials have clarified to FACTLY that there is no truth in the claim made in the post. Also, when a post with a similar claim went viral in 2021, the Sunni Waqf Board officials denied the claim. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

When we searched the internet for information regarding the claim made in the post, we could not find any credible news reports. If the Sunni Waqf Board made any claim over the wealth related to the Shirdi temple, it would have been widely reported. But there were no such reports. On the website and annual reports of the ‘Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust, Shirdi’, it can be read that the “trust is the Governing and Administrative body of the Shri Saibaba’s Samadhi Temple and all other temples on this premise.”

When we contacted the officials of ‘Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust, Shirdi’, they clarified to us that there is no truth in the claim made in the post. Also, when a post with a similar claim went viral in 2021, the Sunni Waqf Board officials told ‘Vishwas News’ that the post is completely fake. As the post is going viral again, we have also tried to contact the officials at the Maharashtra Waqf board, and this article will be updated upon receiving a response from them.

To sum it up, the Sunni Waqf Board has not made any claim over the entire wealth of ‘Shirdi Sai Sansthan’.

Update (17 December 2022): An official from the Maharashtra State Board of Waqfs has also confirmed to us that the claim made in the post is fake news.
