Claim: The Government of India has decided to impose a complete lockdown from 29 Feb to 31 Feb 2021.

Fact: The message in the photo is just a joke. The days 30 and 31 never occur in February. 2021 is not a leap year to have the 29th day in February. The Government of India did not release any statement about the new complete lockdown restrictions to be imposed in the country. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

By observing this message with a little attention, we could easily understand it as a sarcastic message. First of all, days 30 and 31 never occur in February, and 2021 is not a leap year to have the 29th day in February. Also, in the photo, it is clearly mentioned as a joke not to be taken seriously.

The Government of India did not release any statement about the new complete lockdown restrictions in the country. Amid the rising COVID-19 cases, the Government sent high-level teams to 10 states and Union territories that have seen a surge in COVID-19 cases. A few State Governments in the country extended the lockdown restrictions with some relaxations after the sudden rise in COVID-19 cases in their states. News articles published on extended lockdown restrictions can be seen here and here.

To sum it up, this message about the Indian Government imposing a complete lockdown from 29 Feb to 31 Feb 2021 is a joke.
