‘Safe Shop India’ e-commerce company executive is now falsely portrayed as the Kodagu District Collector

A video of a woman being greeted by a group of men and women is shared on social media claiming it as the felicitation video of Kodagu district collector. In the post, it is claimed that people of Kodagu district felicitated her for the measures implemented in controlling COVID-19 virus spread in Kodagu district. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Felicitation video of Kodagu district collector for controlling COVID-19

Fact: This video shows ‘Safe Shop India’ e-commerce company associate Naziya Begum being greeted by her company staff. She is not the collector of Kodagu district in Karnataka. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On reverse image search, similar visuals of a group of men and women greeting a woman were found in a video posted by a YouTube user on ‘20 February 2020’. This video is uploaded on YouTube with the title ‘Mrs. Naziya Mam Diamond Lady Safe Shop India’. Similar visuals were found in another video, describing the woman as Naziya Begum of ‘Safe Shop India’. On searching for official sources using these keywords, a video was found published in the ‘Safe Shop India’ official Facebook page about the success story of their Associate Naziya Begum. The same woman in the post can be seen in the video describing her success story in ‘Safe Shop India’ company.

Safe Shop India’ is an e-commerce company which sells fashion, health and Lifestyle products. Other videos of ‘Safe Shop India’ staff greeting Naziya Begum by bowing down in front of her and offering flowers can be seen here and here.

We also found that several customers filed complaints against this firm in consumer complaints forum. In 2019, eleven Safe Shop India company executives were reportedly arrested by the Hyderabad Police for luring public to join their business with an investment of 10,000 rupees and fooling them with the offers of commission.
