Fact: Industrialist and Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata had never made such a statement on any of his official social media handles. Earlier, similar messages with different contexts were attributed to Ratan Tata on social media. Ratan Tata himself debunked few such fake messages spreading in his name on social media. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
When we searched to check whether Industrialist Ratan Tata had made such a statement about the COVID-19 crisis in the country, it is found out that Ratan Tata had never made such a statement on any of his official social media handles. If Ratan Tata had made such a statement, several mainstream media outlets would have published articles reporting the same. But, we could not find a single news article reporting this alleged statement of his.
In March 2020, Ratan Tata announced that The Tata Trusts has pledged to donate 1500 crores to the Government of India to fight against the COVID-19 virus. Recently, Tata Group had announced that they would help the government’s efforts to increase the production and supply of medical oxygen in the country. However, neither Ratan Tata nor The Tata Group had made the statement shared in the post.
