Claim: Raj Thackeray tweeted praising Kangana Ranaut and criticizing Kareena Kapoor.

Fact: No such tweet praising Kangana Ranaut and criticizing Kareena Kapoor was found on the timeline of Raj Thackeray’s official twitter handle. The official twitter handle of Raj Thackeray reads @RajThackeray, whereas the twitter handle in the post reads @iRajthackerey. Also, Raj Thackeray has a verified twitter account whereas the account in the post is not verified. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

If we take a closer look at the tweet, the twitter handle in the post reads @iRajthackerey whereas the official twitter handle of Raj Thackeray reads @RajThackeray. Also, Raj Thackeray has a verified twitter account whereas the account in the post is not verified, as is evident from the absence of the verified account symbol for the twitter account shown in the post. With this, we can say that the tweet in the post is not made by Raj Thackeray.

Date and time of the alleged tweet in the post reads 10:53 AM, 06 September 2020. Whereas, if we scroll down the timeline of Raj Thackeray’s official twitter account, we cannot see any tweet coinciding with this date and time. With all this, we can conclude that the alleged tweet was made through a fake/Parody account of Raj Thackeray.

In the light of the ongoing tussle between Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and Maharashtra government led by Uddhav Thackeray, several posts like the one mentioned in this article are being circulated on social media platforms with misleading claims.
