A collage of photos is going viral on social media (here, here, and here), claiming to show a Hindu man pulling the beard of a Muslim man and assaulting him. The post is being shared with the claim that the incident took place in India. Let’s verify the claim made in the post in this article.

Claim: The photos show a Hindu man pulling the beard of a Muslim man and assaulting him in India.
Fact: The incident did not take place in India, nor was the attacker a Hindu man. The photos are from Ghior Upazila in Bangladesh, where a man named Nasim Bhuiyan assaulted local computer shop owner Ali Azam Manik over a dispute. The attacker pulled the victim’s beard and damaged his shop. He was later arrested by police on 27 June 2025. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
A Google Lens search of the viral photos led us to multiple Bangladeshi media reports (here, here, and here) that featured the same photos. According to these reports, the incident took place in Ghior Upazila of Bangladesh, where a local computer shop owner named Ali Azam Manik was assaulted by a man identified as Nasim Bhuiyan. Ali ran a shop called ‘Manik Computer’ in the Manikganj district. Nasim reportedly visited the shop daily, got his work done, and left without paying. When Ali asked him to pay, Nasim began threatening to shut down the shop.

On 23 June 2025, Nasim visited the shop again but was asked to wait as Ali was busy with another customer. Angered by this, Nasim pulled Ali’s beard and assaulted him. Other customers present at the shop stepped in to stop the attack. During the incident, Nasim also broke a computer monitor worth 15,000 taka. Ali later filed a complaint at the Ghior police station, after which Nasim was arrested on 27 June 2025.

To sum up, photos of a dispute between two individuals in Bangladesh are falsely shared, attributing it to India with a communal narrative.
