Following the victory of AAP in the recently held general elections in Punjab, a social media post accompanying a video of Bhagwant Mann in an inebriated condition posing for photographs is doing rounds on social media platforms claiming that the video shows the condition of Bhagwant Mann after winning the Punjab elections. Through this article let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video of Bhagwant Mann in an inebriated state after winning 2022 Punjab elections.

Fact: These visuals are from 2017, wherein Bhagwant Mann was caught in an inebriated condition posing for photographs. News articles reported the same visuals back in 2017. Further, there are no recent reports of Mann making public appearances in drunken condition, following the Punjab election victory.  Hence the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.

There are many reports of Bhagwant Mann caught on camera in a drunk state. In fact, back in 2016, MP Harinder Singh Khalsa complained to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan about stinks of alcohol from Bhagwant Mann and requested the speaker to change his seat.

However, the viral video does not show any recent incident. Google search with relevant keywords led us to a 2017 news article, which reported the same viral visuals. ‘Bhagwat Mann was seen tripping while he tried to step down the footpath and get inside his car’ the news article wrote reporting these visuals.

Further, there are no recent reports of Mann making public appearances in drunken condition. The same video also went viral back in 2019 ahead of the general elections, following Bhagwant Mann’s pledge to quit alcohol earlier that year.

To sum it up, old visuals showing Bhagwant Mann in a drunken state passed off as a recent one.
