Fact: This is an old video. Multiple news articles from 2017 suggest that the video shows students getting expelled back in 2017 for using unfair means in the intermediate examination in Bihar. 162 students were expelled on the first day of the Intermediate examination conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) on 01 February 2021. However, this video has nothing to do with the 2021 incidents. Hence the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.
YouTube search with relevant keywords led us to a similar video dated 17 February 2017. The description of the video reads ‘Must see today 34 girls from Seth Sagarmal College, Nawada’. This proves that the video is old and not related to the latest incident of students being expelled for cheating in exams.
Taking a cue from the YouTube video, Google search with relevant keywords yielded us multiple 2017 news articles which reported the expulsion of 360 students in Bihar for using unfair means in the intermediate examination. Further, India Today reported that ‘In Nawada district around 32 girl examinees were caught cheating in centre number 2311 at Seth Sagar Mal Aggarwal Women college in the first sitting of Physics examination’. News articles of Indian Express and Outlook which reported this incident can be read here and here. All these lead us to the conclusion that the video in the post is old and not related to the recent turn of events.
In view of 162 students getting expelled on the first day of Intermediate examination conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) posts like these are being shared on social media with misleading claims.
