Fact: Nupur Sharma tweeted this video on 26 January 2019, describing it as the ‘Republic Day’ celebrations along with her old college friends in the ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ filmy style. The video shared in the post is old and has nothing to do with Nupur Sharma’s recent comments on Prophet Muhammed. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
When we earched for this video using relevant keywords on the internet, we found the same video on the official Twitter handle of BJP’s former spokesperson Nupur Sharma. Nupur Sharma tweeted this video on 26 January 2019, describing it as the ‘Republic Day’ celebrations with her old college friends in the ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ filmy style. Nupur Sharma posted the same video with a similar description on her Facebook page.
Following the protests from Muslims and Islamic countries over Nupur Sharma’s remarks on Prophet Muhammed, on 05 June 2022, BJP suspended Nupur Sharma from the party stating that her views are contrary to the Party’s position on various matters. Following the suspension from the party, Nupur Sharma issued an apology and unconditionally withdrew her remarks on Prophet Muhammed, saying that it was not her intention to hurt anyone’s religious feelings. Several news websites published articles reporting this information. A few of them can be seen here and here. Lately, she did not release any video supporting her earlier statements against the Prophet Muhammed.
To sum it up, a three-year-old video is falsely shared as the recent visuals of Nupur Sharma saying “How’s the Josh?” referring to Muslim protests on her Prophet Muhammed remarks.
