Fact: The video shared in the post shows the moments before the crash of Russia’s military transport aircraft prototype outside Moscow city in August 2021. The video shared in the post is old and has nothing to do with the recent ATR 72 aircraft crash at the Pokhara International Airport in Nepal. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
On reverse image search of the screenshots of the video, a video with similar visuals was found published by the ‘India Today’ on 17 August 2021. ‘India Today’ published the video with the title, “Ilyushin Il-112V: Russian military transport aircraft crashes in outside Moscow.” Mentioning the same, a few other YouTube channels have also published the same video in 2021. Publishing a photo showing similar visuals in an article, ‘AP News’ reported it as the last moments of the Russian prototype military transport plane, Ilyushin Il-112v, before the crash while performing a test flight outside Moscow on 17 August 2021. Three crew members onboard reportedly lost their lives in the accident. Reporting the complete details of the accident, several news websites published articles in August 2021. On the other hand, ‘BBC News’ and a few journalists published a video reporting it as the horrific last moments of ATR 72 domestic aircraft before the crash in Nepal’s Pokhara on 15 January 2023.
