Fact: The video dates back to 26 January 2024 from the Republic Day celebration at Radhe Shyam School in Godadara, Surat, Gujarat. The boy on stage is Sumit Mohan Lal Purohit, a class 11 student, along with his sister, Lata Purohit. The video has no connection to Devraj, who was recently murdered in Udaipur. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to similar videos posted on social media (here and here) in February 2024, confirming that the incident is not recent and is an old video.
Taking clues from the banner on the stage, we searched for Radhe Shyam School and found it to be located in Godadara, Surat, Gujarat. To verify the boy’s identity, we reached out to the School Principal, who confirmed that he is Sumit Mohan Lal Purohit, a class 11 student and that the girl accompanying him is his sister, Lata Purohit. The programme was organised on 26 January 2024, he added.
Additionally, the school principal also provided a photograph of Sumit Purohit, who matches the boy in the viral video. In the photo, he was wearing an ID card, which confirmed that he was not Devraj but a student of Radhe Shyam School.
To sum up, the boy performing on stage in this viral video is Sumit Purohit from Surat and not Devraj who was stabbed recently in Udaipur.
