A photo is being shared widely on social media with a claim that it shows a recent incident of an IAS trainee arrogantly keeping his leg on a hospital bed. Let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

Fact: The posted photo is an old one. The incident in the photo happened in 2016, and the person in the photo is Dr. Jagdish Sonkar, who was then the sub-divisional magistrate of Ramanujganj in the Balrampur district (Chhattisgarh). He is an IAS officer of the 2013 batch. Hence the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.

When the photo was run through Google Reverse Image, many news articles with the same photo were found in the search results. According to the ‘Hindustan Times’ article, “the incident happened when Dr. Jagdish Sonkar visited a government hospital for a routine inspection and interacted with mothers of malnourished children being treated there”. The incident in the photo happened in 2016. He was then the sub-divisional magistrate of Ramanujganj in the Balrampur district (Chhattisgarh).
