A post is being widely shared on social media claiming that Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has made an emotional appeal to his fans and audience that he would have to sell his house if his upcoming film ‘Pathaan’ flops at the box office. ‘Pathaan’ filmmakers recently announced that the movie is set to be released on 25 January 2023. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Shah Rukh Khan said that he would have to sell his house if his upcoming film ‘Pathaan’ flops at the box office.

Fact: Shah Rukh Khan did not make any such appeal to his fans and audience regarding his upcoming film ‘Pathaan’. Shah Rukh Khan had never said that his house would be sold if his ‘Pathaan’ or any other film flops at the box office. Shah Rukh Khan’s team has confirmed that this narrative circulating on social media is fake. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

When we searched to check whether Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan had made any such appeal, we could not find any such statement on the official Twitter handle of Shah Rukh Khan. Sharing a promotional video on 02 March 2022, Shah Rukh Khan announced the release date of the Pathaan movie as 25 January 2023. But he did not make any such appeal to his fans and audience that he would have to sell his house if his film Pathaan flops at the box office. If Shah Rukh Khan had made any such appeal to people, several mainstream media websites would have reported that information, but we could not find a single article reporting this information on the internet.

When ‘Dainik Jagran’ journalist Smita Srivatsava contacted Shah Rukh Khan’s team for more clarification regarding this message, Shah Rukh Khan’s team clarified that this narrative is fake. ‘Vishwas News’ published a fact-check article reporting this clarification from Shah Rukh Khan’s team.

To sum it up, Shah Rukh Khan did not say that he would have to sell his house if his film ‘Pathaan’ flops at the box office.
