No, Amit Shah hasn’t made these controversial remarks on Jawans

On Facebook, a few users are sharing posts alleging that Amit Shah has said- “We politicians do great work than Indian Jawans, getting ‘Martyr’ status isn’t that great”. Let’s try to analyze the claim made in the post.

Claim: Amit Shah has said- “We politicians do great work than Indian Jawans, getting ‘Martyr’ status isn’t that great.”

Fact: Amit Shah hasn’t made any such comments degrading Indian Jawans. No credible source was found to authenticate the claim. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

When googled to check if Amit Shah has made such bizarre statements, an article of Hindi online newspaper “Pal-Pal India” that was published on April 7, 2015, was found. In the article, it was reported that Amit Shah during his speech at an event that marks the completion of 35 years of BJP, has said he was doing greater work than Indian Army Jawans and getting ‘Martyr’ status wasn’t that great. BJP cadre has organized an event on April 6, 2015, to celebrate the completion of 35 years to their party. When one goes through the speech of Amit Shah that was video graphed during this event, it was found that he has not made any such controversial statements as claimed in the post. And almost all the major news channels have covered the event but none have reported of Amit Shah making any statements of this kind. Amit Shah said that dying for the country is a big sacrifice in itself, but living for the country is more difficult and that living like that is the responsibility of party workers.

During the search, it was found that such statements attributed to Amit Shah are doing the rounds on social media since 2016.

To summarize, Amit Shah hasn’t made any controversial statements degrading Indian Army Jawans, instead he said that living for the country is more difficult than dying for the country.
