A protest video is being shared on Facebook with a claim that it is taken today (on Eid al-Adha) in Jammu and Kashmir. Let’s try to analyze the claim made in the post
Claim: The video shows a protest rally in Jammu and Kashmir today on Eid al-Adha.
Fact: It’s an old video. The protestors in the video are National Health Mission (NHM) Employees who were demanding regularization of their jobs. Hence the claim made in the post is MISLEADING
In the video, at 27 seconds, it can be seen that protestors were carrying a Flexi which has a word ‘employees’ written on it and at 1 min 07 seconds, it can be found that the police were ‘Srinagar Police’
So, when searched with keywords ‘Employees rally in Srinagar’ on Google, the same video can be found in the search results. But the video was uploaded by ‘Fast Kashmir’ in February 2019 and the description below the video reads, “The Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday foiled the protest rally of National Health Mission Employees who tried to march towards Polo View in Srinagar”
When searched for the news on this rally, an article published by ‘Greater Kashmir’ on this issue in February 2019 is found.
To sum it up, NHM employees protest in February is being shown as a recent protest in J&K on Eid al-Adha.
