Claim: Video of ‘Aaj Tak’ reporting a horrific accident near UP’s Deoria which killed 6 rats.

Fact: The original video uploaded by ‘Aaj Tak’ on YouTube on 19 April 2016 with the title “Six killed in road accident in UP” shows the visuals of injured people. Six persons were killed, and 12 others seriously injured when a Maruti car lost control and rammed into a gathering on the roadside in Devariya (Deoria) of Uttar Pradesh. However, visuals of injured people are replaced with an image of dead rats scattered around a toy car in the viral post. Hence the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.

We searched the YouTube with relevant keywords and found the original video uploaded by Aaj Tak on 19 April 2016 with the title “Six killed in road accident in UP”. At 0:14 seconds, the visuals in this video show people injured in the accident and a damaged car. As per the description, six persons were killed, and 12 others seriously injured when a Maruti car lost control and rammed into a gathering on the roadside in Devariya (Deoria) of Uttar Pradesh. The critically injured have been referred to hospital at Gorakhpur medical college.

Visuals of injured people are replaced with the image of dead rats scattered around a toy car in the viral video.
