A video (here, here, & here) of a group of people wearing green t-shirts and shouting slogans in front of a building named “Muslim League Office Arangadi” is being widely shared across social media platforms, allegedly claiming that supporters of Muslim league (Muslims) are celebrating the inauguration of the Muslim League office by wearing Pakistan’s cricket team jerseys in Kasaragod, Kerala. Through this article, let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: In Kasaragod, Kerala, supporters of the IUML wore Pakistan’s cricket team jerseys during the inauguration of the Muslim League office.
Fact: The IUML activists did not wear Pakistani cricket team jerseys during the inauguration of the Muslim League office in Kasaragod, Kerala. Instead, they wore green jerseys with ‘Arangadi’ written in English on the front. On the front right side of the jerseys, we can see the emblem of the IUML. On the front left side, we can see the flag of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), with ‘IUML’ written in English on the right arm of the jerseys and ‘MYL’ on the left arm. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.
To check the veracity of the viral claim, we conducted a relevant keyword search and found that a new IUML office was recently inaugurated at Arangadi in Kasaragod district, Kerala. During this search, we also found a similar video posted on an unverified Instagram account named ‘manishh_bhatt’. The description of the video reads: “Muslim League office in Kerala, Arangadi, written on the t-shirts. Arangadi is a village in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The waving flag is of the All-India Muslim League.” In this video, we can clearly see “Arangadi” written on the front of the t-shirts and “MYL” written on the shoulders of the t-shirts.
Taking a cue from this, we located a similar video (here) of the inauguration of the Muslim League office at Arangadi in Kasaragod district, Kerala, posted on a Facebook page named ‘Pachapada Arangadi.’

A video of a road show by Muslim League activists wearing the same jerseys as seen in the viral video has also been posted on the ‘Pachapada Arangadi’ page on 28 June 2024. The words written on the jerseys are clearly visible in this video. “Arangadi” is written in English on the front of the jerseys. On the front right side of the jerseys, we can see the emblem of the league and a logo, which is the same logo used as the profile picture of the Pachapada Arangadi Facebook page. On the front left side, we can see the flag of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML). “IUML” is written in English on the right arm of the jerseys, and “MYL” is also written in English on the left arm of the jerseys. Below are screenshots illustrating this.

There are no similarities between the jerseys worn by activists of IUML and the Pakistan cricket team jersey, apart from the green colour. From all this, it is clear that the Muslim League activists did not wear Pakistani cricket team jerseys during the inauguration of the Muslim League office in Kasaragod, Kerala. Below, you can see a recent Pakistan cricket team jersey.

To sum up, Muslim League activists did not wear Pakistani cricket team jerseys during the inauguration of the Muslim League office in Kasaragod, Kerala.
