A post accompanying a purported image of IPAC (a poll strategy group which is working with TMC for the ongoing assembly general elections in West Bengal) survey report which shows Mamata Banerjee losing in Nandigram is being circulated across social media platforms. Through this article let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.
Claim: Image of IPAC survey showing Mamata Banerjee losing in Nandigram.
Fact: This image doesn’t show a survey report by IPAC. IPAC through a tweet has categorically rated the survey as fake. The official twitter handle of TMC has also rated another purported survey by IPAC as fake. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.
Google search with relevant keywords led us to a tweet by IPAC dated 31 March 2021which rated the survey as fake. Further, the tweet reads ‘Facing imminent defeat, @BJP4Bengal has now gone down to the level of using FAKE surveys in the name of I-PAC to keep the morale of their workers up!!’.
Pratik Jain, Co-founder & Director of IPAC quote tweeted the same IPAC tweet stating that his name is spelled wrongly in the purported survey. Further, TMC’s official Twitter handle also rated another purported survey by IPAC predicting Mamata’s defeat in Nandigram as fake.
In view of ongoing West Bengal assembly general elections, posts like this are being shared with misleading claims.
To sum it up, fake IPAC survey report is being shared as Mamata Banerjee losing the 2021 election in Nandigram.
