Farmers in large numbers are protesting at the Singhu border since the passage of the three farm laws. They have renewed their action plan and are currently protesting in the national capital during the ongoing parliament session. It is in this light a post accompanying an image of a Sikh man in which he appears to be carrying a condom packet in his shirt pocket is being shared. Through this article let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

The archived version of the post can be seen here.

Claim: Image of a protesting farmer carrying condom packet in his pocket.

Fact: This image is of former Punjab minister Sucha Singh Langah of the Akali Dal and the image is available on internet at least since 2018. However the original does not show any condom pack in his pocket. This image is digitally morphed so as to look like Langah is carrying a condom packet in his pocket. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

Upon reverse image search, we found the same image published in a news article dated 18 August 2018 and the article identifies the man as former Punjab minister Sucha Singh Langah of the Akali Dal. This proves that the image has nothing to do with the ongoing farmers’ protest. Further, on close observation of this image, it is evident that there is no condom packet in his shirt pocket.

Punjab Kesari’s news article also published the same image of Langah in an article back in 2020. Even the image in this article does not show any condom packet in Langah’s pocket. From all these, it is evident that the photo of former Punjab minister Sucha Singh Langah of the Akali Dal is digitally morphed so as to look like he is carrying a condom packet in his pocket.

To sum it up, an image of former Punjab minister Sucha Singh Langah of the Akali Dal is digitally morphed so as to look like he is carrying a condom packet in his pocket.
