A post is being shared on social media claiming that YSR Congress Party has set a Guinness World Record with 1.29 lakh registrations for blood donation on the occasion of Andhra Pradesh CM Y.S. Jagan’s 50th Birthday. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: YSRCP set a Guinness World Record with 1.29 lakh registrations (both online & offline) for blood donation on Y.S Jagan’s 50th Birthday.

Fact: The certificate is given by ‘Genius Book of Records’ and not ‘Guinness book of World Records’. As of now, Guinness world record for most blood donor registrations online in 24 hours was set by Shincheonji Youth Volunteers on 02 October 2022 in South Korea with 71,121 registrations. Hence the claim made in the post is MISLEADING

We found that the image of certificate shared in the viral post shows “Genius Book of Records” and not “Guinness book of World Records”.

The image of the certificate uploaded on official website of the YSR congress party contains the logo & approval of “Genius Book of Records”. Also, during the announcement of the record, a representative from Genius book of Records can he heard saying, “Genius Book of Records

As per the website of Genius Book of Records, they have been collecting various Indian Records for 28 years. Genius Book of Records is registered as per the consensus arrived at in the meeting of the Chief Editors of Genius Book of Records and is not related to Guinness World Records. According to the official website of Guinness World records, the record for most people to sign up as blood donors online in 24 hours was set by Shincheonji Youth Volunteers on 02 October 2022 in South Korea with 71,121 registrations. However, no such announcement was made by Guinness World Records acknowledging the record for massive blood donation pledge set during 50th birthday of Y.S Jagan.

To sum it up, YSRCP entered the ‘Genius Book of Records’ and not ‘Guinness book of World Records’ for 1.29 lakh blood donation signups within 24 hours.
