A photo is being shared on social media claiming it as the visuals of an excavated Nandi sculpture discovered inside a Mosque in India. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Photo of an excavated Nandi idol found inside a Mosque.

Fact: The Nandi sculpture in the photo was discovered recently during the re-construction work of the Sellandiamman temple in Tamil Nadu. This Nandi idol was not found inside a Mosque in India. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On reverse image search of the photo shared in the post, similar visuals were found in a video published by the ‘Puthiyathalaimurai TV’ news channel on 05 September 2021. This news channel reported it as the visuals of a 1000-year-old Nandi idol discovered inside a temple in the Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu. The ‘Puthiyathalaimurai TV’ news channel had published an article with the complete information related to this excavated Nandi statue. According to the details provided in the article, this Nandi statue was found during the re-construction work of the Sellandiamman temple in Ariyur village of Namakkal district, Tamil Nadu.
