Gujarat police arrested these two young men for performing a bike stunt, not the Uttar Pradesh police

Recently, a video of a bike stunt performed by two youths went viral on social media. This video shows one boy riding a motorcycle while the other was sitting on his shoulder and posing with a pistol in his hand. In this context, a couple of images are being shared on social media claiming that UP police officials caught both these young men and taught a good lesson to them. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: UP police arrested the two young men who performed dangerous bike stunts carrying a pistol in public.

Fact: The incident shared in the post took place at Armoli village in Surat, Gujarat. Surat Police arrested both the young men and filed a case against them. The pistol carried by one of them was found to be a lighter. Gujarat Minister Harsh Sanghavi too confirmed the arrest of these two young men through a tweet on 02 January 2022. This incident has nothing to do with the UP police. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On reverse image search of the photos shared in the post, similar bike stunt visuals were found in an article published by the ‘Zee 24 Kalak’ new channel on 02 January 2022.  This article reported that this bike stunt of two young men carrying a pistol in their hands had taken place in Surat. A few YouTube channels mentioned these young men as famous TikTokers from Surat city in Gujarat.

Reporting the complete details of the incident, the ‘Navabharat Times’ news channel published an article on 03 January 2022. This article reported that the incident had taken place at Armoli village near Surat city in Gujarat. With a hint of the visible bike number plate in the viral video, Surat police reportedly caught both these young men. According to the details reported in the article, the two young men who performed this bike stunt are identified as Nagajan Odedara (26) and Bharat Ghadvi (21). The pistol carried by one of them was found to be a lighter. Following the arrest, Gujarat police officials released the picture of these two young men apologising for their actions. Reporting this picture, several news websites have published articles. They can be seen here and here.

Gujarat Minister Harsh Sanghavi through a tweet confirmed the arrest of these two young men. From all these pieces of evidence, it can be concluded that the pictures shared in the post are related to a recent incident in Gujarat, not related to Uttar Pradesh.

To sum it up, these young men in the picture were arrested for performing a bike stunt carrying a pistol in Gujarat. It is not related to Uttar Pradesh.
