A post is being shared on social media with a claim that Arvind Kejriwal is in the Fortune magazine’s ‘The World’s 50 Greatest Leaders’ list whereas Modi did not find a place in the rankings. Let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: Arvind Kejriwal, not Narendra Modi, is in Fortune’s ‘The World’s 50 Greatest Leaders’ list.

Fact: The posted news is an old one. Arvind Kejriwal was ranked 42 on the 2016 list. While it is true that Narendra Modi did not get a rank in the 2016 list, he was ranked 5 in the 2015 list. Kejriwal did not find a place in the 2015 list. Both of them did not find a place in the last released 2020 list. Hence the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.

When we searched regarding the news article given in the post, it was found that the news is old. Several news agencies have published similar stories in 2016 about Arvind Kejriwal being on the Fortune magazine’s ‘The World’s 50 Greatest Leaders’ list. On Fortune’s website, it can be seen that Arvind Kejriwal was ranked 42 in the 2016 list. While it is true that Narendra Modi did not find a place in the 2016 list, he was ranked 5 in the 2015 list. Kejriwal was not part of the 2015 list.

Also, it should be noted that both of them did not find a place in the last released 2020 rankings – ‘World’s 25 Greatest Leaders: Heroes of the pandemic’.

To sum it up, Kejriwal was ranked 42 in the 2016 Fortune’s ‘The World’s 50 Greatest Leaders’ list whereas Modi was ranked 5 in 2015.
