An image (here, here, here, and here) of a building adorned with sculptures and figures is making rounds on social media platforms. The image is being circulated with the claim that it represents the new design of the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) building. We fact-check this claim through this article.

Claim: This image represents the new design of the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) building.

Fact: Upon thorough investigation, we found that BARC has neither released nor acknowledged such a design on their official website or social media handles. According to the Hive AI detection tool, the viral image is 100% likely an AI-generated image. Therefore, the claim made in the post is False.

Firstly, we visited the BARC official website, specifically the section where they post notifications about tenders for any new constructions or renovations. No information corresponding to the claim was found.

We continued our investigation by checking their official social media handles(here and here) for any announcements regarding a new building design. The result remained the same; no such design was featured or mentioned.

To ascertain whether the viral image was AI-generated, we utilised an AI Content Detection tool called ‘AI Classifier’ by Hive. The tool indicated a 100% likelihood that the image was generated using Artificial Intelligence.

Additionally, we have also reached out to BARC for an official statement regarding the alleged new building design. We shall update this article once we receive their response.

To sum up, it can be concluded that the viral image being shared as the new design for the BARC building is an AI-generated image and not an actual architectural design.
